The crash took place around 6:51 p.m. Tuesday, in Westport, closing the right southbound lane between Exits 18 and 19, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to police, the crash occurred when both vehicles, were traveling southbound on I-95 when one of the vehicles veered left for an unknown reason and struck the other vehicle.
The veering vehicle then rolled over and came to a final rest on its roof in the right lane, state police said.
The Westport Fire Department responded to the crash and found both occupants out of the vehicle.
Both occupants were treated on scene for injuries and transported by AMR to a local hospital, the department said.
The driver of the vehicle that veered, Glynn Thomas, 53, of Naples, Florida, was charged with failure to maintain a proper lane.
